The IDRC supports students by providing them access to the tools and knowledge that will aid them in successfully using technology to meet their educational goals.
This is achieved by:
Individual Consultation:
The staff at the IDRC are available for individual consultation appointments for students enrolled in primary, secondary and post secondary schools.
Consultation appointments include a thorough needs review to identify the areas in which technology may support the students educational goals. Students are then provided with information and demonstrations of technology based solutions and/or may be referred to other agencies as necessary.
Consultation services are provided on a fee for service basis. Frequently this cost may be covered through bursaries or other funding sources.
Training on a wide variety of adaptive technologies is available to students with disabilities. All major adaptive technology software are supported. In addition, consultation and training on Web Accessiblity, Alternate Format production and technical support is available on a fee for service basis.
Group Workshops:Group workshops are presented free of charge to students, staff, faculty and members of the community. The workshops address a broad range of adaptive technology solutions.
